Manayunk-resident Emily Johnson makes her TV debut on Friday. Johnson, the assistant dean of students at Moore College of Art and Design, will be featured on the last episode of Wheel of Fortune’s “Philadelphia Week,” part of its “Great American Cities” campaign.

Wheel of Fortune recruited 15 locals to compete on the show throughout the week. Prizes will be sourced from local Philadelphia businesses.

Philly Happening caught up with Johnson again (we also spoke with her back in March) to find out what to look for when her episode debuts on Friday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m. on ABC.

P.H.: Tell us more about Philly Week on WOF.

E.J.: All this week, the contestants on Wheel are from the Philadelphia area. The set is really cool, they made it to look like Independence Hall and Elfreth’s Alley and other Philly landmarks. 6ABC also had a contest for people from Philly to fly out to California and be in the studio audience, so we even had hometown folks cheering us on.

P.H.:What can viewers expect when they tune in to your show on Friday?

E.J.: To be totally honest, it went by so quickly and I was so focused that I can barely remember most of it. It will be just as interesting for me to watch it and remember exactly what happened!

P.H..: How can the average viewer improve their WOF skills?

E.J.: Sometimes there are letters you know are going to be in a puzzle– for instance, when the category is “what are you doing?” you know there’s most likely going to be an -ING in there so you can guess those letters first. And if you’re stuck, buy a vowel!
