It’s the holiday season once again and here in Philadelphia we have so many ways to celebrate!

Holiday Parades and Tree Lightings

Chestnut Hill’s Community Holiday Parade
Saturday December 10th 9am – 8700 Germantown Avenue

Join the Holiday fun as the Chestnut Hill Community Parades down Germantown Avenue.  The fun starts at 9am at the corner of Germantown & Rex Avenues.

Small Business Saturday and Tree Lighting
November 26th 11am-5pm – Main Street Manayunk

The holidays are a great time to help support local businesses and Manayunk participates in the nationwide event sponsored by American Express by making it a fun holiday event.  Local businesses will offer discounts to help you with your shopping followed by the debut of the new Christmas tree in Canal View Park with a lighting ceremony as well as sing-a-longs, hot chocolate, treats, and of course, Santa will be on site!

Franklin Square Holiday Festival
Novmeber 10-December 31 4pm-8pm – Franklin Square 

The Holiday season is bright at the Franklin Square Holiday Festival.  There will be food and beers of the season at SquareBurger and the Winter Beer Garden and dessert from the Square’s brand new Ben’s Sweets & Treats.  The Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show presented by PECO will delight audiences of all ages.  Other events throughout the season include #FranklinSquareFridays, Santa Saturdays, Seasonal Sounds on Sundays, Lightening Bolt Holiday Express train rides around the Square, and a family-friendly New Year’s Even Countdown and Dance Party!

Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve – City Hall

Get into the holiday spirit by visiting the Christmas Village right outside of City Hall.  There will be over 80 vendors selling great food, ornaments, and crafts from all over the world!  For more information check out the website!

Rudolph Run in Manayunk
December 10th 9am-11am – Canal View Park

Don your red noses, jingle bells, and holiday garb for the 3rd annual Rudolph Run along the Manayunk Canal.  The fun starts at 9am and the event is free, but runners are encouraged to donate canned and non-perishable goods, which will be sent to North Light Community Center.

Friday Night Lights at the Morris Arboretum
Friday’s in December: 2, 9,16, 23 & 30 4:30 – 7:30pm – Morris Arboretum

Enjoy the Holiday Garden Rail at Morris Arboretum all lit up and decorated for the season.
White lights sparkle along the rails and miniature greens adorn the buildings.

Stag & Doe Nights in Chestnut Hill
Wednesdays: November 30th, December 7, 14, 21 6pm-9pm – Chestnut Hill 

Chestnut Hill’s oldest holiday tradition! Gaily decorated shops, twinkling tree lights, wine & cheese, cocoa & cookies, carolers, roasted chestnuts, brass quartets and lots of holiday merriment.

Meet the Jolly old elf himself every weekend in December at Franklin Square.  While you’re there you can ride the carousel, play a round of putt-putt and enjoy the holiday fun throughout the square!

Lunch with Santa on the Spirit of Philadelphia
Saturday and Sunday December 10th and 11th 11:30am-2pm – Penns Landing 401 S. Columbus Blvd

Santa Paws and Promenade of Trees
December 3rd 10am-6pm – Canal View Park

Children aren’t the only ones who love jolly old Saint Nick! Bring your furry friends to have a picture with Santa by the new tree in Canal View Park at the intersection of Main and Gay Streets in Manayunk. There is a suggested $10 donation per photo will go towards Red Paw Emergency Relief Team. After the photo session The Promenade of Trees will begin at sunset, lead by Christmas carolers. Guests will view business’ trees decorated in the themes of past, present, and future theme. Each tree will be judged for each theme, and there will also be a “People’s Choice” award.
