With much anticipation, SPiN, the original ping pong social club is finally ready to open the doors to its 211 South 15th Street location in Philadelphia’s iconic Rittenhouse neighborhood on September 15, 2017. The new expansive 12,000 square foot space will be a hub for those seeking a unique experience that collides the art, design, and entertainment world centered around ping pong. Founded in New York City in 2007, SPiN is known for its international network of ping pong social clubs that combine a unique mixture of sport, design and entertainment meant to inspire connections and shared experiences.
“SPiN is absolutely thrilled to launch in Philadelphia! And much like this vibrant city, we welcome all to come together to socialize and celebrate play,” exclaimed CEO, Pieter Vanermen. “SPiN has always welcomed the diverse, embraced the unconventional and surprised with creativity. We can’t wait to show the city of brotherly love what SPiN is all about.”
Designed by the architectural firm Barker/Nestor, the new Philadelphia location will be a mecca and playground for all ages. The space will spare no detail with 17 Olympic- style ping pong tables and State of the art Olympic sport flooring for exceptional ping pong performance. Guests will be able to enjoy inventive cocktails and a savory menu at the grand center horseshoe bar, designed with graffiti accent bar stools and wood paneled finishings. The space includes the perfect setting for intimate connecting thanks to plush lounge seating areas and a private room with its own bar and extraordinary art features – perfect for any celebration.
Unique to this location, SPiN Philadelphia will feature a fully immersive and interactive Red Room with floor to ceiling red details – including the walls, lush cherry Chesterfield seating, a custom outfitted ping pong table all topped with neon signs. The hallways will be lined with scratch and sniff cherry wallpaper which will lead guests to bleachers overlooking center-court housing a state of the art DJ booth built inside. The space will also host SPiN’s largest retail location featuring exclusive merchandise from local artists and brands. The collaborations debuting will include a SPiN sneaker courtesy of Vans new Customs platform alongside a ping pong paddle set by iconic and local retailer, UBIQ.
Celebrating the vibrant Philadelphia culture and influence, the walls will house original murals from established artists including Philadelphia’s own King SALADEEN alongside world renowned street artists Amberella, DAIN, Fluke & Zek and UR New York. The art featured aims to add to the eclectic and energizing feel that is synonymous with the SPiN name while paying homage to street art culture.
SPiN will also explore its creative flare through an inventive and mouth-watering food and beverage menu. Using locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible, the menu will feature an imaginative take on comfort food classics, featuring local dishes that pay tribute to the community—Dishes like pastrami tots with a coriander black pepper aioli, pork roll sliders with pickled red onion and chipotle remoulade, and funnel cake bites with a delicious apple jack caramel. All of this is perfectly complimented with any one of their cocktails, like The Fishtown Throwdown or That Gin JAWN or, what is destined to be a crowd favorite, A Philly’s Own.
SPiN Philadelphia will officially open its doors with a Grand Opening Party slated for September 15th, featuring a show stopping performance by DJ Royale, Philadelphia native rapper, Schoolly D, and Philadelphia 76ers, Robert Covington. The night will be filled with celebrity hosts, musicians, artists, actors, athletes and more.
To rev up even more excitement for the grand opening, the week of September 11th, a partnership between Lyft and SPiN will give select lucky riders the chance to win entrance to the opening VIP hour when they find one of ten orange ping pong balls in their Lyft cars.
SPiN is also proud to partner with WeWork, Lyft and Red Bull on the official opening. The inaugural celebration kicks off with a VIP hour followed by a chance for all to join in on the fun starting at 9:00PM.
