If you’ve been searching for a soulful, spirited, folk-rock  sound with pop essence, then look no further. Dani Mari, a Philadelphia based singer/songwriter who has been captivating her audiences with her Billie Holiday/Patsy Cline like voice for years will be at FDR Park on August 10, 2012 for a free outdoor music festival.

Dani Mari’s music is exploding with intelligent lyrics and clever melodies, a real hearty, soulful, sound that will surely captivate you from the moment you hear one of her hit singles “Vampire” or “Impulsive“. Often compared to the likes of Billie Holiday, Mazzy Star, Radiohead, Patsy Cline and Bob Dylan, this local artist is definately Happening!

PH: What inspires you most as an artist?

DM: I am inspired everyday by all of the talented musicians I have met since I have been in Philadelphia.

PH: Do you play any instruments as well?

DM: I play guitar, piano and sing. I was classically trained on piano starting in the 2nd grade. I studied voice at West Chester University and minored in Piano. I started to learn how to play guitar in college and began writing my own music at that time.

PH: What’s your favorite performance or music moment memory to date?

DM:I had the opportunity to open up for Jeffrey Gaines at a little bed & breakfast in Quakertown a few years ago. It was in the dead of winter and there was a snow storm that night. It was a cozy place to perform & Jeffrey Gaines and all the other people I met were extremely nice and accommodating.

PH: What’s next for Dani Mari?

DM: I’ll be performing & hosting the FDR Park Festival once a month this summer with Reverend TJ McGlinchey. The next one is this Friday. I am also in the process of recording a new album.

PH: What do you want people to know about Dani Mari music?

DM: My music is very honest & mostly about what I am going through at the time that I write the songs. I am very grateful for the people that I have met and have inspired me to keep writing & performing my music.

PH: Anything else you want to share with Philadelphia?

DM: I think it is important for everyone to find something that they are passionate about. My passion and release is music. Philadelphia has been a great place to express this.
