Voted the 2nd BEST Halloween attbest haunts in phillyraction nationwide by Hauntworld.com this historic landmark was once an actual mental institution that was eventually closed in 1986 after accusations were filed that patients were abused, neglected, and treated in ways that are too awful to describe.

Many of this haunts props are actual artifacts from the once buzzing hospital making this an uber authentic and interesting attraction.

2. Bates Motel 

Owned and operated by the same people responsible for the Pennhurt Asylum and also crowed as 2nd best attraction, the Bates Motel is one freaky joint. With over 75 actors and 25 scenes, the FX, props, and pyrotechnics really make this hayride a show.

3. Terror Behind the Walls 

As if being in an 11 acre abandoned prison at night time weren’t spooky enough, actors beautiful decorated with ornate make-up and costuming are going to do their absolute best to terrify you. Eastern State Penitentiary has been featured on numerous ghost hunting programs, as this venue is also believed to be truly haunted by the tortured souls who used to call it home.

4. Fright Factory

5. Ghost Tours of Philadelphia 

If in-your-face, jump-out-and-scare-you, attractions are not your cup of tea – but you do enjoy the historic nature of Philly haunts, then perhaps Ghost Tours of Philadelphia is the perfect Halloween attraction for you. This walking tour is candlelit, informative, and bone chilling. Reservations are also required.
