On Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 12pm – 5pm, South Street Headhouse District’s annual fall extravaganza is back for its 4th year in a row! Each year, hundreds of area families attend this celebration and this year’s event promises even more entertainment and activities for the whole family. Join the South Street Headhouse District for a day of pumpkin decorating, circus performances, lively music, glass blowing demonstrations, and many more features underneath at the Historic Headhouse Square Shambles.
SSHD’s Pumpkinland Fall Festival offers a free pumpkin giveaway, arts and crafts, dancing by Society Hill Dance Academy, storytelling by Headhouse Books, and magicians from South Street Magic. The Fall Bazaar will showcase a wide array of products from local SSHD businesses. New to the festival this year are the following feature performers:
The Hot Club of Philadelphia – This popular and lively band is a local acoustic jazz quartet, dedicated to playing and preserving the music of Django Reinhardt, adding their own style in the process. This band is certain to have you on your feet and dancing to their energizing music, perfect for a fall afternoon.
Give & Take Little Circus – This engaging local troupe will thrill the crowd with a show that includes a fabric aerial trapeze, tight wire, jugglers, calliope music and lots of audience participation. Building on the traditions of vaudeville, circus arts, and theater, their Funicular Fantasy is sure to appeal to a wide range of ages: children, adults (and even most teenagers).
WheatonArts Glassblowers – This dedicated and award-winning team of glassblowers will be presenting demonstrations of traditional glassmaking techniques with their portable gas furnace. Sure to fascinate, their beautiful glass products will also be on sale, perfect in advance of the holiday gift-giving season.
Visitors are encouraged to extend their outing and take advantage of the local restaurants, shops, and galleries that are running specials to coincide with the day’s festivities.
