On Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 4pm– 7pm, South Street Headhouse District’s annual winter extravaganza is back! Each year, hundreds of area families attend this celebration and this year’s event promises great entertainment and activities for the whole family. Join the South Street Headhouse District for the annual Holiday Tree Lighting, a festive market underneath at the Historic Headhouse Square Shambles, and much more.
The South Street Headhouse District’s Winter Wonderland will once again be emceed by WXPN’s popular “Kids Corner” radio host Kathy O’Connell. Santa Claus will be there to greet area children and make sure he gets their Holiday wish lists. Free horse-drawn carriage rides will be available from Philadelphia Trolley Works. The highly popular “Nutcracker Mash-Up” dance performance by the Philadelphia Dance Academy is back. The award-winning Society Hill Dance Academy will perform holiday ballroom dances for the crowds as well. The seasonal sounds of a brass quartet will help get people in the holiday spirit. Kids (of all ages) will be able to make their own ornaments at the Expressive Hands table.
Over 20 South Street Headhouse retailers and restaurants will be under the Headhouse Shambles to create a Holiday Market that will meet the interests and needs of area shoppers.
Visitors are encouraged to extend their outing and take advantage an evening of dining and shopping at one of over 400 unique and independently-owned restaurants, retailers, or service providers. Stroll the District and enjoy the 28 Window Wonderland participants who have dressed up their storefront windows for the season (see attached map).
Winter Wonderland attendees will also able to download the free new South Street Headhouse District mobile application for iPhone and Android devices, as well as sign up for the Live Local. Shop Local. card for area discounts and specials.
