General_Home_ArtOfTheBrickOpeningDayThe world’s largest display of LEGO art is debuting at the Franklin Institute on Saturday, February 7. The captivating exhibit, The Art of the Brick, features 100 incredible works of art made from millions of one of the most recognizable toys in the work – LEGOs!

The critically acclaimed collection of creative and inspiring pieces constructed using only LEGO bricks by renowned contemporary artist Nathan Sawaya will feature a never-before-seen creation currently in production by Sawaya and designed exclusively for the Philadelphia exhibit. The collection features original pieces as well as re-imagined versions of some of the world’s most famous art masterpieces made exclusively from LEGO bricks like Van Gogh’s Starry Night and Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, as well as a gallery showcasing an innovative multimedia collection of LEGO brick infused photography produced in tandem with award-winning photographer Dean West.

Visitors will have the opportunity to get an up-close and in-person view of the iconic, pop culture fan favorite, Yellow – a life-size sculpture of a man ripping his chest open with thousands of yellow LEGO bricks cascading from the cavity. In addition, they’ll have the opportunity to walk under a 20- foot-long T-Rex dinosaur skeleton made out of bricks and come face-to-face with a giant LEGO skull. At the conclusion of the exhibit guests are invited to sign a LEGO brick and add it to the Philadelphia LEGO wall of art.

“This exhibit is an incredible display of unique and masterfully designed artwork that stimulates the mind, sparks the imagination, and inspires creativity,” said Larry Dubinski, President and CEO of The Franklin Institute. “Because the Art of the Brick exhibition is so relatable, we hope that visitors of all ages see the reproductions of these famous masterpieces or the massive T-Rex skeleton and begin to create and construct using the favorite LEGO bricks that many of us already have.”

The exhibit runs from Saturday, February 7 until Sunday, September 6. For more information, visit:  https://www.fi.edu/.
