Spring is in the Air! The Philadelphia Flower Show starts today, March 5, and runs through next Sunday, March 13, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 1101 Arch Street.
1.) It is the world’s oldest and largest indoor event of its kind. Every year, the show draws more than 260,000 people to Center City Philadelphia.
2.) This year’s theme is “Explore America: 100 Years of the National Park Service, which will honor the National Park Service’s centennial.
3.) The entrance garden at the show welcomes visitors to “Big Timber Lodge,” an immersive spin-off on classic park architecture that features the sights and sounds of nature in the form of art, flowers, waterfalls, and scenic imagery.
4.) Wednesday, March 9 is Wedding Wednesday. Brides-to-be can sample champagne and mingle with More than 50 local wedding experts, who will be on hand to answer wedding questions. $50
5.) Friday, March 11 is Fido Friday. In conjunction with PAWS, Fido Friday is all about exploring the flower show with your furry-four-legged friends! Enjoy “Yappy Hour” at 6 p.m. at the pop-up beer garden.
6.) Sunday, March 13 is the Flower Show Jamboree. Family-friendly activities, including the opportunity to interact with butterflies in Butterflies Life!,and meet with Thomas & Friends in the Railway Garden, powered by Amtrak with Bachmann Trains. Children will have the chance to earn their “Junior Ranger Badge,” complete with a swearing-in ceremony! (A separate ticket is required for some of the Jamboree events).
