Red Bull is inviting all Philly designers, animators, sculptures, and artists of all disciplines to try their hand at its nationwide creative competition, Art of Can, now through June 15.
The concept is pretty simple and offers a platform for anyone, regardless of age, who wants to explore his or her creative talent. All participants have to do is create 3D art, physical or digital, using a can of Red Bull as inspiration. Artists, students, grandparents and all those in between are invited to submit their works of art.
Once all the submissions are in a selection be made by a panel of judges from the art community. The judges will be looking at the creativity behind the concept, the execution of the concept, and the design and craftsmanship.
Here’s how the contest works:
- Register online with a short personal bio and a description of your project.
- Send in your finished project by June 15.
- Chosen projects will be displayed in Dilworth Park in Center City from October 1 through 8.
- Of those chosen, the winning projects in each category will be announced on October 2.
Projects can be submitted in three different categories: physical (using the Red Bull can as your primary medium), displayed digital (using digital Red Bull cans to create 2D or 3D artwork), or concept art for an interactive installation (that includes real-world or physical components).
The top 3 winners in the physical and displayed digital categories will receive a cash prize, ranging from $500 for third place to $2,500 for first place. Only 1 winner will be selected for the interactive installation category (this winner will be announced on July 15), and he or she will receive support from Red Bull to bring his/her concept to life at the final exhibition, plus a $10,000 grant.
