This winter musicians of all ages and levels across the Philadelphia region – from novice to professional – are invited by to perform alongside Orchestra musicians as the new season of PlayINs gets underway.
Part of a community initiative run by the Philadelphia Orchestra, PlayINs aim to take Orchestra members offstage, on the road, and into the lives of music-lovers throughout the region. The music-making event is free for participants and audience members. Musical selections for each PlayIN vary, and parts will be provided according to four suggested playing levels: advanced/professional, intermediate/advanced, intermediate, and beginner.
Here are upcoming PlayINs scheduled to take place at the Kimmel Center:
Flute PlayIN – Wednesday, January 14
Viola PlayIN – Saturday, February 21
Cello PlayIN – Thursday, March 5
Also, a holiday community SingIN will be held during the week of December 15, with details to be announced at a later date.
To register, players can visit www.philorch.org/playin. When a PlayIN is announced, pick a level, download and print the music, and practice the part in advance. Participants are also able to view a short introductory video on the Orchestra’s website that acquaints them with the Orchestra member that will lead each PlayIN and provides tips on how to prepare for one of the selected pieces.
