August of 2017 is particularly special because we get to experience a total eclipse on August 21st, which hasn’t happened since 1979! This weekend there are lot’s of ways to celebrate the eclipse and the summer in general right here in Philly!
Friday Night Out-door Movies
August 18th – Various Locations
Philly does out-door movies right in the Summer! This Friday you have a choice between seeing the award-winning Hidden Figures, which tells the story of the African-American women responsible for so much of NASA’s success in the 1960s, as a part of the out-door movie series at dusk in Clark Park. Or you can opt to see the Avengers Age of Ultron, a comic-book lover’s dream, as part of the Pictures in the Park Series at Dilworth park outside of City Hall starting at 8:30pm. Both events are free and you are encouraged to bring your own chairs or blankets, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Super Solar Saturday
August 19th 12:30-9pm – Mann Music Center
To celebrate the eclipse (happening on Monday!) the Mann Music Center is hosting Super Solar Saturday a friends, family, and art day. The event will transform the music center into a space-themed park with performances, experiments, face painting and so much more! Entrance is FREE! For more information and to register, click here!
