Put on your Dirndl and Lederhosen! Philadelphia’s Christmas Village will host their crowd favorite, German American Weekend on Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15.

Enjoy traditional German dancing and singing on stage and various German clubs from all over the area. Bring your dancing shoes to learn some German steps and traditions. Be sure to watch the Lantern Parade around the Market and City Hall on Saturday night at 5 p.m. And visit with Santa in Santa’s House either days!

Feeling competitive? Take part in the first ever German Games on Sunday afternoon! Compete as a team or lone warrior in three exciting categories: Beer Stein Holding, Bratwurst Eating Contest as well as a Christmas Costume Contest and get a chance to win a trophy plus a gift package from our market. If you’re interested, sign up now by sending an email to Marvin at event@philachristmas.com.

Modeled after the traditional Christmas markets in Germany, there will be plenty of authentic German cuisine and beverages. Feast on Bratwurst (authentic sausage), Sauerkraut, Schnitzel, Kässpätzle (soft cheese egg noodles), Lebkuchen (gingerbread cookies with a twist), and much more. And keep warm with some Gluhwein (warm mulled wine!)
