For some the fall season means rustling through leaves, drinking hot apple cider, enjoying a hayride through a pumpkin patch. However, for hundreds of our four-legged furry friends in the Philadelphia area – and their owners – it means something different. For them it means it’s time get ready for the annual Paws for the Cause dog walk at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
On Sunday, October 5, at 9:00 a.m. hundreds of dogs and their owners, along with FOX29’s Dawn Timmeney, will gather to participate in a one-mile dog walk on Fox Chase’s campus in Northeast Philadelphia. The event, which supports cancer research at the Fox Chase, has raised more than $225,000 to date.
In addition to the one-mile walk around the Fox Chase campus, there will be lots of other activities to enjoy, including refreshments, vendor tables, goody bags, free giveaways, pet-friendly contests and prizes. Participating pets will also have the opportunity to win the best costume, pet trick and dog-owner look-alike contest. Top fundraisers will also be recognized with prizes.
Registration is $15 for adults in advance, $20 on-site. Children 12 and under are $10.
