Have you ever seen the Rocky Horror Show? I know I haven’t. To be honest, until a few years ago I didn’t even know what the premise of the musical was. I mean who would have guessed that it told the story of a newly engaged couple who breakdown in an isolated area and find themselves in the bizarre residence of a mad transvestite scientist – certainly not me!
Now that I know what I’m in store for, I’ve been sharpening my stilettos and waiting for the opportunity to go see it in person. I think I finally may have the chance now that the show is scheduled to be playing at Philly’s BrainSpunk Theater (2825 Ormes Street in Kensington) March 5 through March 28.
The show, which everyone says encourages audience participation (God help me), will be packed with the songs everyone talks about, including: “Dammit Janet,” “Sweet Transvestite,” “I Can Make You a Man,” “Hot Patootie, Bless My Soul,” and of course the timeless favorite, “The Time Warp!” Starring in the show are John Schultz as Dr. Frank-n-Furter, Cris Welti as Riff-Raff, Katherine Perry as Magenta, Jackie DiFerdinando as Columbia, Emily McHale as Janet, Bobby Hayes as Brad, Trevor Cahill as Eddie, Ken Sandberg as Rocky, Nancy Segal as Dr. Scott, and Anthony Wilcox as The Narrator.
Tickets for the show are only $20 for general admission, $15 for groups of 10 or more, and $10 for seniors/students/military/industry. For more information, visit www.brainspunktheater.com.
