If you’ve walked down South Street this week you probably noticed that there’s new, sweet addition — The Little Bird Bakery & Café!
Pastry chef Jessica Vogel Nolen — wife of Jeremy Nolen, chef of Brauhaus Schmitz and Wursthaus Schmitz, owner of Queen Village’s Whetstone Tavern, and co-author of the cookbook New German Cooking — just this week, on November 16, opened the new eatery at 517 S. 5th Street in Philadelphia.
The Little Bird Bakery & Café offers visitors a delicious selection of pastries, desserts, authentic Bavarian pretzels, sourdough barley-sage bread, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches, and more. And don’t worry coffee lovers, the new eatery will be serving up Counter Culture Coffee too.
Next time you’re near South Street stop in and try this new little gem. If you’re looking for something new to serve up this holiday season you can also pre-order some of the new eatery’s pies, cakes, and tortes.
The Little Bird Bakery & Café is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
