Transportation may be halted and roads may be closed in Philadelphia this weekend for Pope Francis’s visit, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the city. Why not make the best of it and join the PopeRide, a fun bike ride to be held on mostly-closed-to-traffic city streets on Saturday, September 26 at 10:00 a.m.
“It’s all about celebrating the fact that some of these roads will be closed and enjoying a ‘Grand Tour of Philadelphia’ sort of vibe,” Alexandria Schneider, a local cyclist and event organizer, told NBC10 during a recent interview.
Those participating in the PopeRide, which will start at 30th Street Station and end at Washington Square Park, will follow a 7.95 mile route and will be grouped according to experience level – Local (causal riders) and Express (faster, more experienced).
