Will the mummers change their march? A timeless Philadelphia tradition may shake things up this year in an attempt to bring the people back. The spectator population for the Annual Mummer’s Parade has slowly declined year after year, and many Mummers want to try to change the parade route to make it more appealing to the people.

The traditional route has always started on Broad Street by Oregon Ave and ended at City Hall, where judging is commenced. The mummers are asking to change the route to begin at City Hall and travel down Broad, but only to Washington Ave. The reversed route will not only allow clubs to be judged prior to the parade, but it will shorten the length of the parade and hopefully draw a larger crowd.

How do you feel about changing the route of this iconic Philly tradition? Should it stay in South Philly where is all began, or move to a Center City only route?
