Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, but it’s also a time to recognize and remember those who have died performing their military duties serving in the United States Armed Forces. The city of Philadelphia will be honoring our veterans throughout the weekend with events and parades. Find all of Philadelphia’s Memorial Day happenings right here. Memorial Day Weekend at The National Constitution Center

All weekend long, the National Constitution Center will honor the nation’s fallen servicemembers by highlighting the history of Memorial Day, taking a closer look at famous memorials and monuments, and uncovering the complexities of how a nation remembers. In addition to access to all the Center’s exhibits and artifacts, programming includes flag ceremonies, discussions on U.S. memorials through history and across the country, family friendly workshops and lectures as well as crafts for learners of all ages. Admission is free for Memorial Day Weekend, made possible through the generous support of Citizen Travelers, the nonpartisan civic engagement initiative of Travelers.

Smoke on the Water – Memorial Day at Moshulu

Memorial Day Weekend at The Museum

Pay tribute to the men and women who lost their lives in service to their country during the Revolutionary War and celebrate the freedoms they fought to secure for future generations at The Museum of the American Revolution from May 25-27. Memorial Day Celebration at Laurel Hill Cemetery

Join the General George Meade Society for its annual Memorial Day celebration at Laurel Hill East, the site of the first Memorial Day in Philadelphia in 1868. The ceremony will include a dedication of markers at the graves of previously unmarked veterans, wreath-laying, speeches, music, and honor guards. All are welcome to join this free event. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

Memorial Day Weekend Boat Party

On Friday, May 24, prepare to kickoff Memorial Day Weekend in style with a three-hour tour of crazy proportions. You will sail down the Delaware River with a three hour open bar, featuring some craft brews, wine, a light dinner buffet, a signature vodka cocktail, and a live DJ all included with your ticket. Boat boards and bar opens at 6:30, departs at 7 PM.

Kennett Memorial Day Parade

The Kennett Square Memorial Day Parade is a tradition that goes back decades—starting in 1948—and has endured as a local favorite. The parade is produced by a volunteer committee that includes community members under the leadership of Kennett Collaborative, American Legion Post 491, and VFW Post 5467.

Media Memorial Day Parade

U.S. Veterans Legacy Project invites you to the 2024 Memorial Day Parade on May 27th, 2024! Every year they gather to remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. The parade will start on State Street and end at the courthouse in Media. All are welcome to attend.
