Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer, but it’s also a time to recognize and remember those who have died performing their military duties serving in the United States Armed Forces. Memorial Day Weekend at the Museum

When: May 27-29
Where: Museum of the American Revolution, 101 South Third Street, Philadelphia, PA

Join the Museum over Memorial Day Weekend to pay tribute to the men and women who lost their lives in service to their country during the Revolutionary War and celebrate the freedoms they fought to secure for future generations. Memorial Day Celebration | Laurel Hill East

When: May 28, 12 pm – 2 pm
Where: 3822 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA

Laurel Hill East was the site of the first Memorial Day celebration in Philadelphia in 1868. At the 2023 ceremony, markers will be dedicated at the graves of previously unmarked veterans and the event will feature speeches, wreath-laying, music, honor guards, and refreshments. Historical groups, veterans, and the public are encouraged to participate.

Free Admission at the National Constitution Center

When: May 27-29
Where: 525 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA

All weekend long, the National Constitution Center honors Memorial Day by taking a closer look at famous memorials and monuments. In addition th access to all the Center’s exhibits and artifacts, programming includes flag ceremonies, discussions on U.S. memorials through history and across the country, family-friendly workshops and lectures, as well as crafts for all ages. Free admission to the National Constitution Center for Memorial Day Weekend is made possible through the generous support of Citizen Travelers. Memorial Day Weekend Boat Party | Moshulu

When: May 28, 10 pm – 2 am
Where: Moshulu, 401 South Christopher Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia, PA

Dance the night away to throwbacks, top 40 and hip hop favorites. DJ Deejay and DJ Butterscotch will be playing music you love. This event is for 21 and older only. This is an all weather event. The deck at Moshulu is a covered venue.

Memorial Day Weekend Boat Party

When: May 25, 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Where: 401 South Christopher Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia, PA

Sail down the Delaware River in style with a three-hour open bar featuring craft brews, wine, a select signature cocktail with vodka, a dinner buffet and a live DJ – all included with your ticket.

Tribute to Heroes – Devon Horse Show

When: May 29
Where: 23 Dorset Road, Devon, PA

The Devon Horse Show will be having events all weekend long. Wednesday, May 24th kicks off the first night at Devon. Thursday is the dog show, and Sunday is the Carriage Pleasure Drive and Arena Eventing. On Monday, May 29th, Devon honors the community heroes with a special recognition ceremony in the Dixon Oval, featuring local military and emergency responders.

Celebrate the nation’s heroes at the 2023 Kennett Square Memorial Day Parade. It’s a fun, family-friendly event with something for everyone.

Media

When: May 29, 10am – 12 pm
Where: E State Street, Media, PA

The Veterans Legacy Project and Media Borough is hosting the annual Memorial Day Parade, which starts at Barrall Field, located at the intersection of State and Edgmont Streets. Ceremony is at the Delaware County Courthouse immediately following the parade.

Every year on Memorial Day, many CrossFit gyms, military members, veterans, and civilians participate in the MURPH workout to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation. The workout consists of a mile run, followed by 300 air squats, 200 push-ups, 100 pull-ups, and ends with another mile run.

CrossFit Fairmount

When: May 29, 9:15 am & 10:30 am
Where: 1513 Parish Street, Philadelphia, PA

Participate in the Memorial Day Murph Workout at CrossFit Fairmount. The gym will be open to any and all athletes, friends and fitness junkies. The event starts at 9:15 with the first heat and 10:30 am with the second heat. Sign up online.
