Ah March, the month that comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. This month can be an unpredictable end to winter and start of spring but one thing is for sure, it’s the month in which Philadelphians will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in style! Whether you are Irish or not, you can have a ton of fun celebrating this holiday. Here is what is going on in Philly for St. Paddy’s Day 2019.
Parade
The Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade was founded in 1771 making it the 2nd oldest Parade of any kind in the USA. Grab the family to celebrate together and this year don’t forget to set your clocks to spring ahead so you don’t miss any of the action. If being outside in the elements doesn’t appeal to you, you can watch the parade on TV! It will air live on Fox 29 and be re-aired on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th on Fox 29 at noon. Bar Crawls
Erin Express
The official Erin Express is a Philly tradition that spans over 30 years. Over 10 buses will be looping around 15 bars throughout the city giving you a fuzzy tour filled with St. Patrick’s Day themed fun. The buses are free, just show up at a participating bar and when you are ready to move on hop on a bus that will rotate about every 15 minutes. Northeast Philly Erin Express

Irish Stroll

Maggie’s Waterfront Cafe
Local charity Camp Jamison invites the community to join in early St. Patrick’s Day festivities on March 16th at Maggie’s Waterfront Café. The event will raise funds for this year’s camp experience.
The “Raising of the Green Beef & Beer” will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy live music, St. Patrick’s Day themed games, and plenty of good food and drink. Covert Pop will be performing with a special guest percussionist. Purchase tickets in advance for $32, or buy at the door for $42. Read more about the event here.

Leprechaun Run
Celebrating its 34th year, the Leprechaun Run includes a 7-mile race, 5-mile race and 2-mile fun run/walk benefiting Special Olympics PA.
