A 9,000-square-foot pop-up beer garden will be coming to Philadelphia’s business district.

Teddy Sourias, owner of Bru Craft & Wurst, U-Bahn and Finn McCools Ale House, will open Uptown Beer Garden at 1735 JFK Blvd. in the courtyard of the BNY Mellon Bank Center on July 1 at 4:00 p.m.

Running through September, the massive beer garden — it’s 3,000 square feet larger than U-Bahn and Bru combined — can accommodate up to 500 guests.

Sourias said it’s been his dream to open a rooftop or patio bar and lounge.

“The space had everything I was looking for, including expansive views of the new high rises, lush greenery, a mix of intimate and large spaces, and building partners that would let my team get creative,” he said.

The menu will feature a 35-foot bar that will feature spirits, wines, six craft drafts and nearly a dozen craft cans. The on-site kitchen will have a selection of bar snacks, sliders, sandwiches and desserts.

Uptown Beer Garden will have nine picnic tables, more than a dozen granite benches, 8-foot tree slab communal tables, outdoor lighting and rustic décor.

Starting hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5-10 p.m., Wednesday from 4 p.m.-12 a.m., Friday and Saturday 2 p.m.-12 a.m. The beer garden will be closed Sundays.

The main entrance of the beer garden is 1735 JFK Blvd., but it’s also accessible from Market Street via a pass-through next to the Mellon Bank Center.

A portion of proceeds from Uptown Beer Garden will be donated to Philadelphia Animal Welfare Association (PAWS), which is teaming up with the upcoming Kawaii Kitty Café set to open later this year.
Sourias designed the beer garden with help from his team. It was executed by contracting firm GM Efestos.

This will be Sourias’ fourth location. His latest, U-Bahn, an underground bar beneath Bru, opened in March this year. He said to keep a lookout down the road for other developments as he continues to grow his empire.
