January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month nationwide and the Keystone State Mountains are a perfect place for newbies to get out on the slopes for the first time. For the entire month, members of the Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association (SkiPA) are offering special discounts on learn to ski packages, which makes it affordable to get started and also takes the hassle out of planning.

First-timers can take advantage of a $5 discount off of an adult or child midweek learn to ski and snowboard package at any SkiPA resort. The 21-member resorts encompass all regions of the state from the Endless Mountains to the Philadelphia suburbs, central Pennsylvania from the Maryland to New York borders throughout the Alleghenies. The following SkiPA resorts have dedicated January Learn to Ski & Snowboard specials. Additionally, January 11, is National Learn to Ski & Snowboard Day and many resorts will have specials on beginner lessons that day, specifically, with an attempt to set a record for the most beginner lessons taught in one day.

Bear Creek Mountain, Lehigh Valley

January is Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month every Wednesday during the month of January, purchase a Learn to Ski or Ride package for just $49. Applicable to guests ages eight and up. Must purchase package at Guest Services window, subject to availability.

Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton

Blue Mountain is offering its Family & Friend Group Lesson Experience for a $20 discount. Priced at $179, the experience includes beginner lift tickets, rentals and an hour and a half lesson for three people ages six and up. This package is normally $199. Package is available during the following days in January: Jan. 12 and 13 and Jan. 26 and 27.

Elk Mountain, Union Dale

January Learn to Ski or Snowboard package includes a beginner lift ticket, first-time lesson and equipment rental for $55 midweek and $70 on weekends/holidays. Snowboard package is $62 midweek and $72 on weekends/holidays. Minimum age is 8 years old.

Jack Frost/Big Boulder, Blakeslee

Beginners can take advantage of a $50 Learn to Ski/Ride package every Tuesday in January. Package includes a restricted lift ticket, lesson and rental. January 1 is excluded. Ages 13 and up. Not valid for the SnowMonsters children’s program.

Liberty Mountain Resort, Carroll Valley

Learn to ski or snowboard for only $55 on Thursday all January. Packages include a beginner lift ticket, rental, helmet and a beginner lesson. This package is available for ages eight and up.

Roundtop Mountain Resort, Lewisberry

Roundtop is offering $55 Learn to Ski or Snowboard packages every Thursday in January. The package includes a beginner lift ticket, class lesson and rental equipment. Minimum age requirement for skiing is four years-old and age six for snowboarding.

Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Lewisberry

On January 11, beginners can enjoy a special Learn to Ski & Snowboard Day package, which includes lift ticket, rental with helmet and 1.5-hour snow lesson on the specially designed Fun Based Learning terrain area for $110.

Shawnee Mountain, Shawnee-on-Delaware

Shawnee will offer $79 beginner packages Jan. 2 through Jan. 31, excluding Jan. 19 and 20. The package include lift ticket, rental and beginner group lesson. Participants must be a minimum of six years old for ski lessons and seven years old for snowboarding lessons. Not valid on three-hour children’s programs.

Ski Big Bear, Lackawaxen

Beginners can take advantage of discounted Learn to Ski & Snowboard packages on Mondays and Thursdays through January for just $68. Participants must be six years of age and older. No other discounts apply.

Tussey Mountain All Seasons, Boalsburg

Tussey is offering a beginner lift ticket, lesson and rental every Sunday for $55.

Whitetail Resort, Mercersburg

Learn to Ski or Snowboard packages are available every Thursday in January, starting Jan. 3, for only $55. Minimum age requirement is eight years old. Free child care will also be provided with the purchase of a package. Packages include a beginner lift ticket, rental and beginner lesson. Child care is only available until 5 p.m. Upon completion of the beginner lesson, a Mountain Passport will be available to purchase for just $55.
