The five sisters who founded the Tyanna Foundation.

On Saturday, October 11 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m., the Tyanna Foundation will host their 5th Annual BreastFest Philly at Mad River Bar & Grille in Manayunk. The event, which focuses on fun and cheeky taglines such as “save the girls” and raises funds to support breast cancer screening programs, attracts hundreds of guests each year.

The Tyanna Foundation, a volunteer-run organization dedicated to improving the lives of breast cancer patients, was founded in 1999 by five sisters. Anne-Margaret, Bridget, Megan, Sara and Katie O’Brien lost their mother Tyanna Barre O’Brien to breast cancer in 1990. The organization currently has BreastFest chapters in several Mid-Atlantic and Southern states – each with their own brand of sass.

The Philly chapter, now in its fifth year of partnering with Fox Chase Cancer Center, is poised to break the $100,000 fundraising threshold.

Tickets for the event are $45 in advance and $55 at the door ($30 at the door with a valid student ID). The cost includes admission, food, beer, specialty drinks, and live entertainment. The live entertainment will be provided by local bands like Sin Brothers, Alice’s Garage, and Northern Rednecks and Whitewalls. To top-off the evening there will be acoustic performances from Owl Camino, Skinny Cool Kid, and Gypsy Wisdom.

Guests attending will also have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction and raffles with generous items. Sponsors for this year’s event include Yards Brewery, Liberty Personnel, Coldlight Solutions, AC Linen, Acme Specialties, Kent McBride, PC, Marshal Dennehey, Overbrook Capital, Seth Schwartz, Professional Building Services, Ed Russo Construction, Nemath Building Services, and Yellow Daffodils.
