Scenes from the City Harvest Program: this years' primary beneficiary from the 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show

This photo is a glimpse into the City Harvest Program  a partnership of the Pennsylvania Horticultral Society, as well as the Philadelphia Prison System, SHARE (a food distribution network), the Health Promotion Council of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Weavers Way Co-op and Farm, and approximately 45 community gardens. Through the City Harvest Program the PHS joins the fight against hunger and has successfully fed over 1,000 families by providing over 120,000 pounds of fresh produce during the growing season.

The 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show has named City Harvest a primary beneficiary of all fundraising efforts, in an effort complete their mission “to  improve the quality of life and create a sense of community through horticulture”.
