2416_69460922541_1209299_nToday our great city welcomes Stevie Wonder, one of the world’s most gifted singer-songwriters, to the Wells Fargo Center for his ‘Songs in the Key of Life’ tour.  The concert, which is taking place tonight, will showcase songs from the landmark album – songs like “Isn’t She Lovely”, “Sir Duke”, and many more. The album, released by Motown Records in September 1976,  is among the greatest albums of all time. It is ranked #56 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums

Also, if you haven’t already heard, Wonder will be among those receiving the 2014 Presidential Medal of Freedom later this month.

The medal, which will be awarded to nineteen individuals this year, is the highest honor granted to civilians in the U.S. and honors contributions to U.S. security, world peace and cultural achievement. Others being honored are: Alvin Ailey (posthumous); Isabel Allende; Tom Brokaw; James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner (posthumous); Mildred Dresselhaus; John Dingell; Ethel Kennedy; Suzan Harjo; Abner Mikva; Patsy Takemoto Mink (posthumous); Edward Roybal (posthumous); Charles Sifford; Robert Solow; Stephen Sondheim; Meryl Streep; and Marlo Thomas.
