“A photographer gets people to pose for him. A yoga instructor gets people to pose for themselves.” – Jay Fields

Those who practice yoga — a 5,000-year-old physical, mental and spiritual practice — aim to transform both their body and mind.  The practice of yoga can help with stress reduction, improved fitness through greater balance and flexibility, and management of chronic conditions such as high blood pressure and heart disease.

On Sunday, July 26 you can enjoy over eight hours of sun salutations, meditation and music as Philly celebrates International Day of Yoga at Independence Park and the Visitor Center Ballroom. The event — which runs from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. — includes yoga breakout sessions, chair yoga, pole gymnastics, sun salutations, meditation and more.

There will be a number of speakers at the event, including:

He is a graduate of IIT Mumbai with a degree in Chemical Engineering, and attended IIT Bombay to pursue his Masters Degree.

At the event he will talk hold a talk entitled Ancient Yoga, Modern Science, which will focus on the ancient techniques of yoga and explore the potential of yogic techniques in unlocking the full potential of the human mind body complex.

Nirmalananda began exploring psychology, yoga, meditation, healing, massage and Eastern traditions in the 1960s.
