large (1)large (3)Break from your regular routine and take a hands-on cooking lesson that will transport to Italy to make your own Gnocchi from scratch on Friday, April 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The demonstration and lesson will take place at Reading Terminal Market – can you get any better than that?! And all materials and recipes will be provided. Those taking part in the event may bring their own beer or wine and are asked to wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes.

Here’s the menu for the night:

  • From-Scratch Gnocchi with either Garlic Parsley Chimmichurri or Brown Butter Sauce with Shallots, Thyme and Lemon
  • Arugula Salad with Lemon Agave Vinaigrette and Shaved Parmigiano Reggiano
  • Traditional Cannoli Filling with Cannoli Shell “Chips”

So how will this class go?

It will start with complimentary appetizers of Chickpea Fennel & Orange Salad and a house-made Crostini with Whipped Ricotta as you learn about the cuisine.

Each couple will choose which sauce they would like to prepare for their gnocchi dish (Either Thyme & Brown Butter or Garlic- Parsley Chimmichurri).  They will then cook their own gnocchi in boiling water and combine them with the sauce.

Half the group will start with making their selected sauce, and the other half will begin to make their gnocchi. Then, couples will switch to make either the sauce or the gnocchi, whichever one they did not start with.

There will be two experts on-hand to help with both the sauce-making and the gnocchi-making, so don’t worry if you’re not 100% confident in the kitchen.

As you indulge, the experts will demonstrate the proper technique for dressing a salad, and then serve it as your second course and repeat the same for the dessert course!
