Discover paintings, sculptures, and architecture  inspired by the Christian faith.

In celebration of the World Meeting of Families and Pope Francis’s visit to Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is hosting a self-guided walking tour that introduces guests to several of the Museum’s most beautiful and moving images of Christian faith from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, with a particular emphasis on depictions of Saint Francis of Assisi. The tour will run from Tuesday, September 22 through Thursday, September 24 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (on Wednesday, September 23 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. admission is Pay What You Wish).

Pope Francis is the first pope from the Americas and the first non-European pope in more than 1200 years. He chose his name in honor of Saint Francis, who renounced his wealth for a life of service. Like Saint Francis, Pope Francis has been commended for his commitment to the plight of those less fortunate.
