Join Chef Jose Garces for a fun, interactive Book Signing Event at his acclaimed Latin-Asian restaurant, Chifa (707 Chestnut Street, 215-925-5555)on December 15th from 4:00-6:00 pm.. Chef Garces will be mingling in Chifa’s lower lounge and signing copies of his second cookbook, The Latin Road Home: Savoring the Foods of Ecuador, Spain, Cuba, Mexico, and Peru, which will be available to purchase for $35.

Chef de Cuisine Natalie Maronski will prepare complimentary bites from the Peruvian chapter of the cookbook, as well as new items from Chifa’s menu, and will offer a special cocktail menu available on a pay-as-you-go basis. In addition, special Latin Road Home Baskets ($160 each) will be sold, a perfect gift for any gourmand.

“I wrote this book as a way of sharing my journey with my fans and friends, and this book signing is a terrific opportunity for me to do just that,” says Chef Garces. “After touring the country to support The Latin Road Home, I’m so glad to be back home in Philadelphia, and I look forward to spending time with my readers here at Chifa.”

The Latin Road Home is at once a cookbook, a travelogue and a memoir, tracing Chef Garces’ journey from culinary school in Chicago to his ongoing work as one of the country’s top chefs and restaurateurs. The hotly anticipated follow-up to Chef Garces’ stunning 2008 debut Latin Evolution, The Latin Road Home has garnered national attention: it was featured on CBS This Morning, and earned powerful praise from Fine Cooking, who wrote that “this beauty of a book…explores the foods that have nourished Garces and shaped his growth as a chef…the recipes are consistently doable and unpretentious. It’s filled with the sort of comforting family-friendly roasts, stews, and salads that we all love – and it’s a great read, to boot.” NPR called Chef Garces “among the most talented and innovative chefs in America” in their feature on The Latin Road Home. Spanish native Chef José Andrés says, “With this book, home cooks can join Jose, one of America’s most exciting chefs, on his journey back and forth across the Atlantic, cooking some of the best dishes from the Old World and New.”
