You may remember the very inspiring poet who shared an intimate poem with us during our Happening Survivor campaign in 2012. The Happening Survivor campaign was an initiative to bring breast cancer awareness to our community, especially in young women. You can read many inspiring tales of strength and vigilance from young local women how grabbed cancer by the horns and kicked it’s butt.

Amy McKee is one of our 2012 Happening Survivors that shared her moving poem, Empowered, with us and our readers. We recently learned that after many years of remission, Amy is once again faced with battling cancer. Amy was recently placed in hospice where she will continue her battle with this rampant disease and friends are asking the community to support Amy and her family during this difficult time.

“In true Amy fashion her last wish is not for herself but for her family. We are setting up this fund to help Amy and her family with any necessary costs associated with being placed on hospice as Amy does not have a life insurance policy. Any help is greatly appreciated to Amy and her family at this time. Thank you all in advance!”

80s girlEvery dollar truly does count. Amy leaves behind two daughters who will benefit from your kindness and generosity most. Your donation will help with the expenses associated with Amy’s stay in hospice while she continues to fight. Amy also does not have a life insurance policy and your donation will alieviate her family from the burden of burial costs and help them begin a new journey without their beloved Amy. With the strength so rarely seen, Amy’s spirits remain high and she has never lost hope that her journey will continue.

If you too know a Happening Survivor, send us their story. The more awareness we can bring to all forms of cancer the stronger we can fight together.
