e2e83e26bca6c2e0e986293c884a81a7Easter is right around the corner, which for many of us means Cadbury Eggs, Peeps, jelly beans, and, of course, the inevitable cavities they will cause. However, for kids under 10 it means something a little different. Don’t get me wrong, the little ones will still be expecting candy, but they’ll also be anxiously awaiting the Easter Bunny and fun-filled Easter egg hunts.

This year – before you start dying eggs and mapping out creative locations to hide them around the house – take a look at this list of Easter egg hunts already planned for Philly.

Saturday, March 21:

East Passyunk Avenue
Starting at 11:00 a.m. the East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at the South Philadelphia Older Adult Center (East Passyunk and Dickinson Street). Children ages 10 and under are invited to attend the hunt for Easter Eggs and Zitner’s Fine Confections. Bags will be provided with arts and crafts materials to decorate them and the Easter Bunny will be hopping around and posing for photos. An added bonus: after the egg hunt, select restaurants in the area will offer kid-friendly brunch and great family-oriented shopping deals.

Mayfair Memorial Playground
Starting at noon Mayfair Memorial Playground will host their 5th Annual Easter Egg Hunt fundraiser on Rowland Avenue at Vista Street. Guests attending the event will enjoy the playground, games, prizes, bake sale tables, and of course the fluffy guy himself – the Easter Bunny. New this year will be an Easter basket decorating contest.

Saturday, March 28:

Epic Church Philly
Starting at 10:00 a.m. Epic Church will be hosting an Egg Hunt at Gorgas Park (6300 Ridge Avenue). In addition to age-grouped egg hunts every 10 minutes, the free event will offer guest the opportunity to enjoy a petting zoo, face painting, balloon animals, sack races, temporary tattoos, and photos with the Easter Bunny. Pony rides will also be available for a $3 charge.

Glen Foerd
Starting at 10:00 a.m. Glen Foerd on the Delaware (Grant Avenue and Milnor Street) will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt. Glen Foerd, Philadelphia’s last surviving Delaware River estate, invites the public to bring-their-own-basket and participate in not only the hunt, but also lawn games, and children’s crafts. Children can hunt for eggs containing prizes. Admission to the event is $5 admission (adults are free) and it includes a hunt ticket that entitles them to collect 10 eggs (additional hunt tickets are $2 each).

Sunday, March 29:

Ryerss Museum & Library Easter Egg Hunt
Starting at 1:00 p.m. the Ryerss Museum & Library (Burholme Park, 7370 Central Avenue) will host an Easter Egg Hunt. Children 10 and under are invited to bring their Easter baskets and meet near the carriage house for the hunt. The free event is sponsored by the Friends of Ryerss.

American Swedish Historical Museum
Starting at 2:00 p.m. the American Swedish Historical Museum (1900 Pattison Avenue) will host an Easter Family Fun Day and Egg Hunt. Guests are invited to attend the event – which is free for members and children two and under and $8 for non-members – and learn about Swedish Easter traditions, like traditional crafts, dressing up as Swedish Easter witches, face painting and egg hunting.

Saturday, April 4:

Philadelphia Mills Mall
Starting at 11:00 a.m. the Simon Kidgits Club will host a special Easter event at Philadelphia Mills Mall (1455 Franklin Mills Circle). At the event, children will be invited to participate in various craft-making activities, games, and will get to meet the Easter Bunny.

Stenton
Starting at 1:00 p.m., Stenton (4601 N. 18th Street) – a property administered by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – will host an Easter Egg Hunt. Families with children 10 and under are invited to come learn about natural dyes made from flowers, vegetables and animal products as they fill their Easter baskets with eggs and goodies. It is recommended that children bring their own baskets.
