In 1993 AND1 launched in Philadelphia with the goal of sharing their passion about basketball and focusing on those that use the game as a metaphor success in everything they set out to do in life. The celebration of hard work, freedom of expression and dedication to excellence is reflected in the unique and iconic product that the brand has and will continue to create for both the dedicated player and the casual competitor. This summer AND1 teams up with IMG, a global sports and media business, to bring the Summer Remix Basketball Tournament back home to Philadelphia’s, Liacouras Center of Temple University.

“This event will celebrate our roots in Philadelphia, featuring high level basketball and incorporating music to give our fans what they’ve been missing these past few years.” Maurice Levy, AND1 Marketing Director

The new event will be a 12 team, $100,000, winner-take- all tournament held on Labor Day weekend. Teams will be comprised of some of the best players from across the country including professionals, as well as streetball legends.   AND1 Live will also host the first of several nation-wide Open Run tryouts that begin in New York City. All players with a passion for the game will have the opportunity to tryout, at various tryouts across the country. The best eight players from all of the tryouts will form a free agent team and be allowed entry into the tournament.

Additional details, from the announcement of team captains to the naming of celebrity coaches for each participating team, along with musical talent for the event will be made in the coming weeks.

“IMG jumped at the opportunity to work with AND1 to create a new event that would resonate in the streets of Philadelphia,” said Jordan Harris, event producer for IMG.  “The AND1 Summer Remix basketball tournament will be the basketball event of the summer of 2013.”
