Fritz Scheel

The Philadelphia Orchestra gave its first public concert, conducted by Fritz Scheel. Scheel was the founder and first music director of the Philadelphia Orchestra. The first performance on November 16, 1900 was held at the Academy of Music at 8:15 pm.

- Ludwig von Beethoven…Symphony No.5, C minor, Op. 67
- Peter Ilitsch Tschaikowsky…Concerto for Pianoforte No. 1, B-flat minor, Op.23
- Karl Maria von Weber….”Invitation to the Dance,” Op.65
- Richard Wager…Entry of the Gods in “Walhalla,” from “Das Rheingold.”
