St. Patty's Day 2012

Maybe it’s just chance or the luck of the Irish, but Saint Patty’s Day falls on a Saturday this year and Philadelphia is full of shenanigans!

Kick start your St. Patty’s Day celebration with the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year Philadelphia celebrates their 242nd St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at noon. Over the last 242 years the parade has honored the religious and cultural celebrations of this festive holiday. The theme of this year’s parade is St. Patrick, Bless the American Worker. A theme many residents are sure to embrace.

The parade is a great start to your St. Patty’s Day celebrations but Center City, Philadelphia has a lot of other holiday happenings over the next two weekends.

Saturday, March 10th

McPattysfest

Doors open at noon for all day indoor/outdoor fun! Mr. Greengenes will preform live, along with DJ Eddy Tully, while Radio 104.5 broadcasts live right from McFadden’s. $3 Miller Lite cans and drafts all day on special.

Craft Beer Express

Various Locations

Numerous craft beer bars have joined together to bring you one hopping event! For just $10 you can ride the Craft Beer Express, with stops at the following bars: Kraftwork, Johnny Brenda’s, Standard Tap, Institute, Bishop’s Cellar, Kite & Key, Jose Pistolas, Sidecar, P.O.P.E., Devil’s Den, Brauhaus Schmita, and Race St. Cafe. This event is 11am to 9PM.

McGillian’s Olde Ale House

You can bet the oldest operating tavern in Philadelphia knows how to through a party or two, and that’s just what they plan to do! Starting at 10 AM for only a $2 cover, you can enjoy green beer, Irish beer, Irish cocktails, Irish food and more. This will be the 152nd St. Patty’s Day celebration at McGillian’s.

Mad River-Manayunk

Come out to Patty Palooza for an all day indoor music festival. You can also party with Steve Morrison of WMMR from 3:00-5:00 pm and a few of the Preston and Steve hotties.

Plough & Stars Restaurant

All the typical Irish party festivities with a twist. Fergie’s will serve up Irish-American BBQ flavors along with the green brews, bagpipes and Irish pub fare.

The Bards

Kegs and eggs! Need we say more? Beginning at 7am The Bards will be serving up $4 Guinness until 9am and Irish foods all day. They also offer great outdoor seating if it turns out to be a nice spring day.
