Takeru Kobayasi, takes flight with his record setting performance at Philadelphias Annual Wing Bowl, a chicken wing eating contest, where he consumed 337 wings in 30 minutes. This well recognized world champion professional eater joined charitiable forces with Cherry Hill Imports’ Jon Alessandri to present a check for $3,370.00 to Philabundance representative Marlo Del Sordo at Tony Luke’s Cheeseteaks on Oregon Avenue.

Philadelphia restaurateur Tony Luke, Jr. of Tony Luke’s Cheesesteaks added an additional $500.00 contribution to the regional food bank, which serves a total of nine counties in the Delaware Valley region.

Through Philabundance, each dollar donated funds two meals. This being a sizable contribution to the hungry living in our communities.

“I am fortunate to be able to eat for a living, and it’s a blessing I don’t take for granted,” said Kobayashi. “I have made it a personal mission to use my unique platform to help advance hunger-related causes in the various communities in which I compete.”

Philabundance reduces hunger and food insecurity in the Delaware Valley by providing food access to people in need in partnership with organizations and individuals.Philabundance provides a full plate of services through direct service programsand a network of close to 500 member agencies in 9 counties. Philabundanceserves approximately 65,000 people per week at a cost of 50 cents per meal. There are more than900,000 people in the Delaware Valley who are at risk for chronic hunger andmalnutrition.
