Not all trains are just for getting to and from work and school, climb aboard the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, a vintage train complete with early 1900’s coaches, authentic uniformed staff and a bellowing steam engine. Although the New Hope line extends all the way to SEPTA’s Warminster station, this antique train rarely makes the journey to the R2 line, but that’s all about to change on Saturday, August 25, 2012. This makes for a terrific opportunity for Philadelphia residents to travel by SEPTA to the Warminster R2 station where they can transfer to the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad’s train for this historic event!

Just a couple weeks from today the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad will work with SEPTA to pick passengers up from the Warminster R2 station and journey another 20 miles to Lansdale, Pennsylvania where passengers can enjoy the festivities of the 2nd Annual Founders Day and 140th Anniversary of Lansdales Incorporation. Founders Day festivities include a farmer’s market, the Lansdale Festival of the Arts, model train display, Family corner activities and fireworks.

Come be a part of history, sip a cocktail while riding the train (yes we’re serious), and enjoy the ever changing scenery offered by Bucks and Montgomery County. Passengers may choose how they ride, enjoying rich mahogany interiors, open windows and plush upholstered bench style seating in coach, for a $79 round-trip fare; or you can upgrade to first class where you’re treated to a magnificent solid mahogany and brass interior complete with carppeting, tables and cushioned dining chairs, modern day air conditioning and quick (fully stocked) bar services, all this for a $99 round-trip fare. Seating is limited and reservations are strongly suggested. To make a reservation call 215-862-6169 or visit www.newhoperailroad.com. All passengers will also receive a commemorative ticket as a keepsake.

Passengers may board in New Hope, PA for an 8:30 am departure, where the train will begin a 17.5 mile scenic journey to Warminster’s SEPTA station to pick up more passengers, departing at 9:30 am to Lansdale. The train will arrive at Lansdale station at approximately 10:50 am just in time for all the festivities to begin. The train will depart Lansdale for the return trip at 3:55 pm arriving at Warminster station by 5:00 pm and New Hope station by 6:00 pm.

Throughout the day New Hope & Ivyland Railroad will also over express excursions from Lansdale to Souderton for those that wish to see Montgomery County’s scenery from a whole new perspective. Limited seating is available aboard each express excursion with a general ticket fare of $20 for coach seating and $30 for first class seating. Souderton Express Excursions depart Lansdale station at 11:30 am, 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm. Tickets are available for purchase at the NHRR tent located at Lansdale train station the day of.

Don’t miss this one-time opportunity to enjoy a day of extraordinary rail travel without ever having to step foot in a bus or car. Be one of few to make a journey by train all the way from Philadelphia to Lansdale as our ancestors did so many years ago.
