By now we are sure you have seen or at least heard about the latest TIME Magazine cover, of a young woman nursing an almost 4 year old child. The cover created an uproar among much of society, causing people to sling their parenting views, opinions, and judgements, creating around, one of the biggest reactions to a magazine cover in a very long time.

This controversial photo compliments the cover story regarding extreme parenting and raised the question are you mom enough?

Let’s say it out loud- Being a mom isn’t about pleasing society, or giving your child all the latest gadgets, or buying the newest baby gear on the market. It’s about being a parent and actually parenting that child. Parenting is about teaching and helping mold you children into the people you hope they become. Let’s face it, all parents make mistakes (I know I have) and our children are their own people too, and they will make mistakes, whether or not we breast feed them, buy them the hottest new stroller, or potty train at 2 years. The decisions we make from the day they are born until the day we die will influence them in some way, whether they learn from our triumphs or failures, or pay no attention at all. Our children want our unconditional love and support, and in turn I think parents just want the same thing too.

A recent Boston Mom-Blogger, Kara Baskin, recently wrote this article about Mommy Wars and why is it we are worrying if we are Mom enough.

It’s so tempting to get riled up by the Mommy Wars, isn’t it? The Time magazine cover story about extreme parenting, Are You Mom Enough?, featuring a beautiful mother in skinny jeans nursing her preschool-aged son, is infamous by now. It made me, along with the rest of the Internet, explode with righteous indignation. Mom enough? How dare they! This isn’t a contest! But, wait … what if it is? And I don’t even own skinny jeans!
