EATS Philly 2013 isn’t just an evening of amazingly talented chefs and culinary dreamboats coming together to serve some of the areas tastiest bites, it’s a global initiative headed by Chabaa Thai Bistro and Yanoko Owner-Chef (Manayunk) Moon Krapugthong and kitchen designer Judy Spielman (Space by Spielman). EATS Philly was founded in 2011 by Krapugthong and Spielman who have been uniting two countries and two kitchens with a common goal to”feed both mind and body through multi-cultural cuisine and education-whether at the table or in the classroom.”

EATS Philly 2013’s efforts will provide assistance to Children’s Village, an organization that provides high-quality early childhood education to underprivileged families of all ethnic backgrounds. Children’s Village is located in the Chinatown community of Philadelphia. Proceeds will also aid an organization across the globe very close to the hears for Chef Krapugthong and fellow EATS founder Spielman, the Wat Bodd Voraditth orphanage located in Anthong, Thailand.

Enjoy an evening on the street this spring, devouring the delicious dishes of area chefs and local food trucks, reflecting the most authentic street food from around the world. This evening will be complete with live auction, Chef “Throw-down” and even a dragon dance.

Why Wat Bodd Voraditth (WBV)? A couple years ago when Chef Moon offered a birthday gift to her employee, the young woman declined asking Chef Moon to make a donation in her name to the orphanage instead. Fast forward a few months, while traveling through Thailand Moon and Judy had the opportunity to visit the children of WBV, and instantly fell in love.
