Step back in time with a whole new perspective at Dorian’s Parlor, at the Double Tree Hotel Hilton on the corner of Locust and Broad Street. Dorian’s Parlor is a warm, inviting gathering of people who admire and replicate victorian times with a twist, with science fiction and futuristic ideas. Whether you enjoy neo-victorian dress, dandy, 18th century garb, black tie, goth or costuming in general you have got to check this event out!

Dorian’s Parlor is a monthly event, often happening mid or late month at the Double Tree Hotel. For the month of October they featured a All Hallow’s Eve Ball theme in celebration of Halloween and Fall Harvest. Attendees were adorned in amazing costumes- some home made, some custom sewn and others peiced together with items purchased at many shops around Philadelphia such as Passional Boutique on South Street. We spoke with a few attendees who even traveled to be a part of this unique event from area’s such as Harrisburg and New York. Guests commented how welcome they felt since day one, event when they were steam-curious and didn’t have a costume to wear. There really couldn’t be a more inviting event for people of all interests and fashions.

A beautiful assortment of hors d’oeurvres were displayed by Double Tree hotel chefs and available for the taking. There was never a line at the bar as the bartenders were efficient and terrifically personable. Many vendors had wares for sale, including handmade semi-precious jewelry peices, steampunk inventions, antique industrial items turned into accessories, such as steam valve tag necklaces, beautiful corsets, swords and so much more. Truly something for everyone!
