Children are imaginative. They love fairy tales and stories about pirates and cowboys. Oftentimes children imagine themselves as characters from television or their favorite books.  Whether they dream of being princesses, famous ballerinas, or superheroes, children’s imaginations are without boundaries. The perfect place to let their imaginations run wild in the themes of their bedrooms.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Involvement. Get your child excited about being involved in the project. Go together to the hardware store so your child can help choose the paint color and actually help paint the room. The more involved your child is, the more they will feel the room is truly theirs.
  • Storage & Organization. Designing the ideal kids bedroom begins with storage and organization. Children have tons of clothing, toys, books, arts and crafts, sports equipment and games that all require storage. The more clearly storage space is defined, the greater chance there is you’re your child will make an attempt to return the items to their appropriate location. Consider cupboards, shelving units, dressers, toy boxes, or trundle boxes that easily slide underneath the bed.
  • Bed Type. What type of bed will best suit your child’s needs? A twin, daybed, bunk bed or – for sleepovers with friends – a full bed with a trundle? Remember, the bed takes center stage in their room, so when it comes to style, the sky’s the limit. There’s a variety of children’s bedroom furniture to suit a variety of themes.
  • Transition. Although a Superman or Tinkerbelle theme might seem perfect for the moment, it may not be appreciated when your child hits the teen years. Keep this in mind before committing to major renovation.
