What would summer be without outdoor street festivals? I’ll tell you what it would be — dull!

Here are some must attend summer festivals happening in Philly this July and August:

XPoNential Music Festival
Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26 (times vary by day)
The XPoNential Music Festival offers an unparalleled experience for music discovery. With a lineup of established and up-and-coming artists heard on WXPN 88.5FM, the award-winning Philadelphia public radio station, along with a variety of family-friendly activities.

40th Street Summer Festival
Saturday, July 25 starting at 5:00 p.m.
Bring the whole family for a fun and free evening of entertainment at the 40th Street Summer Festival. For one night, the green space behind the Walnut West Free Library will transform into a lively carnival atmosphere full of live music, interactive arts and crafts, and entertainment. This event is perfect for children and adults alike.

Summer Ale Festival at the Philadelphia Zoo
Saturday, July 25 from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m.
The Zoo’s annual craft beer festival set among big cats, great apes and exotic creatures returns for another year of wild fun! Enjoy admission to the Zoo, unlimited beer samples from the region’s top breweries, a live band, DJ, games and more. A variety of Philadelphia’s best food trucks will also be serving pay-as-you-go selections to pair with your favorite brews.

East Passyunk Car Show & Street Festival
Sunday, July 26 from 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Rev your engines for the 10th Annual Car Show & Street Festival, held on East Passyunk Avenue between Broad and Dickinson Streets. There will be live music and  DJs on every block, FREE moon bounce and kids entertainment, the Bang! Boom! CRAFT! Show at the Fountain, street food and drinks. Plus over 140 antique, show, classic and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles.

2nd Street Festival
Sunday, August 2 from 12:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Through direct support from sponsors and local businesses, the 2nd Street Festival aims to bring awareness to the Northern Liberties neighborhood and encourage a healthy and positive lifestyle. For a single day, festival brings neighbors and strangers together through live music, food, games, and the arts. North 2nd Street between Germantown and Green Streets will be closed off and the entire street will be covered with workshops, art, food, beer gardens, craft vendors, and three stages of live music.

Night Market Philadelphia
Thursday, August 6 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. (35th to 39th Street)
Night Market Philadelphia is a seasonal celebration of food, music and community held in the city’s vibrant neighborhoods. Attracting thousands of visitors from around the region, the preeminent celebration of street food features dozens of the city’s best food trucks and neighborhood restaurants for an alfresco evening in the city. Throughout each Night Market, enjoy live entertainment from local musicians, artists and more.

Philadelphia Folk Festival
Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16 (times vary by day)
The hills of Schwenksville, Pennsylvania come alive every summer with the sound of folk music during the long-running Philadelphia Folk Festival at Old Poole Farm near Schwenksville, Pennsylvania.
