Philly Happening Editors Christy & Mike

Just a couple weeks ago on March 10th, Philly Happening Editors had the opportunity to join over 1,300 Red Cross supporters for an evening of glamour, fun, fabulous food and great music. The Annual American Red Cross Red Ball is a fundraiser in which the funds support the South Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross and their disaster relief and prevention efforts. This year the SEPA specifically focused their fundraising efforts toward the Red Cross House, a one of a kind recovery facility for victims of disaster. The Red Cross House is the only facility of it’s kind in the entire nation. For more information regarding this project check out our initial Red Ball article.

The 2012 Red Ball was held at the Please Touch Museum in Fairmont Park, this astounding building hosted party go-ers for hours with their fun and educational children’s exhibits, beautiful restored indoor antique carousel , and breathtaking architecture. The Ball welcomed over 1,300 attendees including numerous local celebrities and athletes, such as Kate Gosselin, Marissa Magnatta, Mayor Michael Nutter, Jason Babin and more!

Upon entry to the museum you walked through remnants of a house fire, a reminder of why everyone was attending this glamorous fundraiser to aid the American Red Cross and the importance of this amazing event . Upon entry,  the gala featureed numerous items up for silent auction, including jewelry, autographed sports memorabilia and much more. Continuing into the main event area, attendees could sample delectable bites from various chefs, restaurants and catering services. Philly Happening Editors would like to recognize the Sugar House Casino‘s beef tenderloin and Philadelphia OIC, INC’s saffron scallop as favored bites of heaven. Throughout the evening we were graced with the musical talent of CTO Artists , truly an asset for any happening party!

Also available for guests were a spectacle of dueling brushes, a live collaborative effort of painters, who created a Philadelphia inspired masterpiece from start to finish before the ball ended; as well as professional tarot card readings by the mysterious Marilyn Sukonick-Zeff. You could even have a caricature drawing done on the spot with Funtown Productions, or pile into a photo booth for boardwalk style fun!

All in all the evening was a huge success, both in spirit and fundraising efforts. SEPA successfully raised nearly $330,000.00, a record for disaster relief efforts in this area! Philly Happening is thankful to have been a part of this fantastic event and hopes to bring you more exciting news regarding the 2013 Red Ball.
