gce-email-2Food & Wine’s “Best New Chef” award, each year acknowledging some of the most promising up-and-coming talent in the business, has a tendency to predict major players in the food world. Case in point? The 1999 Best New Chefs class includes Marc Vetri, Paul Kahan, Suzanne Goin, John Besh, and more. And all of them will reunite on Monday, June 8 for a one-night-only dinner.

Held in the private dining room at Vetri Ristorante in Philadelphia, this meal will bring together every one of those esteemed chefs in a 16-course dinner — where each chef will prepare updated variations of their signature dishes from sixteen years ago.  Almond Ricotta Tortellini with Truffle Butter (Vetri), Seared Sea Scallops with Fennel Broth and Orange (Kahan), Fried Goat Cheese and Frisee Salad (Besh) — it’ll all be on the menu.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Vetri Foundation for Children and Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

The Vetri Foundation for Children was established to help kids experience the connection between healthy eating and healthy living. Through food, education and social interaction, the VFFC works to give children the nutritional foundation they need to grow and thrive.
